If later down the road you get alot of crank relearn codes, its gonna be time to put in a new chain. When it comes to the 4.3, keep up with the maintenance and don't dog the mess out of it and it wouldn't surprise me if it makes it to 300,000. If you did regular maintance and oil changes from day one then it should last 150k, 200k, 250k, etc. Or my neighbor blew up his engine after 14k miles zomg!!!!! they are basically all the same, no amount of statistically insignificant horror stories change that.
